My wife, Sarai, and I founded SLS Fabrication in 2023. She is a Navy veteran, having served from 2001-2007 as a Corpsman. First stationed at San Diego Naval Medical Center and then stationed with the 1st Medical Battalion at Camp Pendleton, deployed 3 times to the Al Anbar Province Camp Taqaddum, Iraq. We were married in 2013, after dating off and on since we were 16. We have one child, Sylus 10, who we decided to homeschool in 2022, and loves everything soccer, chess and gaming. The name of our company is inspired by our son's initials. Every adventure we go on also includes our Niece Ryleigh, she is 14 and loves everything about horses and basketball. We do everything together camping, fishing, trail riding, and we love cooking good food. We want this company to be our legacy for Sylus, to show that hard work and perseverance pays off, and doing what you love allows you to never work a day in your life.
I was 13 when I first started learning how to weld. Beginning my career as a heavy equipment mechanic, I continued to expand my knowledge. When I worked for Evirotech Drilling, we did explorational gold drilling. I was able to use my welding knowledge and experience on heavy equipment to maintain and repair the drill rigs in the field using what we had on hand as we were usually pretty far from any civilization. However, I was able to really hone my metalworking skills when I was the metal and fabrication shop supervisor at Marathon Coach. My department was in charge of fabricating the infrastructure for high-end coaches. When we moved to Central Oregon, I worked for Redmond Welding and Contracting where I was able to refine my welding while fabricating custom railings, mantles, stove hoods and doors in high-end homes and businesses throughout the Central Oregon area. In the fall of 2022 when we decided to homeschool our son I found myself wanting to start a business, it has taken us a year but here we are.
Describe your project and schedule a time to discuss together.
